Website Information Page
I added this page because I had a lot of visitors asking me about the website design, hosting, etc.
I thought this information would be helpful to others who wanted to start up their own websites.
First of all, I'm not a professional website designer and I am not in the business of charging money for advice on the subject.
I am a fan of NASCAR racing who had the idea for the web poll site and thought that it would be fun and informative to see what
everyone else thought about certain topics.

Once I had the idea, I searched around for an inexpensive web hosting service that had all of the tools of the higher priced sites, but
also easy to use.
There are some free and really cheap sites out there, but you usually do not have control of all of the content that ends up on your
site. That part wasn't worth the risk for me.
I have another website for my sign business that is hosted through Microsoft, but it doesn't enable you to insert HTML code (which is
needed for web polls, advertising and other website tools) unless I upgraded to a more expensive package.

When I compared all of the features, bandwidth, easy yet advanced sitebuilder, I went with Yahoo Hosting.
Their price is good, good storage and bandwidth, a very easy to use site builder with advanced features (they even have one that's
easier, but limited in what you can do with it).
You don't have to have a degree in computer programming to get your site up and running. Obviously some more advanced
computer skills are helpful, but they have step by step help for just about every protocol. Once you've created a few pages on your
website and got the hang of the basics you'll be a pro at it in no time.

The nice part is that you do not need to buy expensive software to create your site or understand FTP, uploading servers and all of
that crap. They have those options if you are more advanced at website designing, but you don't have to use them if you're not (like
me).

The basic steps I took in creating this website were as follows:
  • Signed up and created my own domain name (all automatic) and you get your own email account with your .com name.
  • Downloaded their site builder software (included) and opened it up.
  • Chose a template and layout that I liked (included)
  • Decided the web pages that I wanted and re-named the navigation buttons and page names to match.
  • Used the "insert" tab to place text cells and HTML code cells on the page and then moved them around to wherever I wanted
    them.

From there I was able to play around with all of the features and figure out which ones were applicable to my needs.
Your are basically just typing in text, choosing font size & color, etc..
You can upload pictures from your computer in just a few, easy steps and then place them wherever you want on the web page and
make them whatever size you want.
Even if you make a mistake nothing goes online until you push the "Publish" button. You can preview what your site will look like
before you publish which is a good feature.

Obviously I couldn't explain all of the features here on this page, but I can tell you that I discover new things about the service
everyday that are very useful and easy to implement. It is a service that will evolve with you as your skills and knowledge improve
and yet is easy enough to use right out of the gate.

I think that there are a lot of people out there who have been thinking about creating their own website, but weren't sure what they
were in for so they just put it off. If that's the case with you then this is a great service.

Just click on any of the banners or links on this page to take you to them. It's as easy as that!
