Interesting Weekend Ahead At Darlington For Kyle Busch

Darlington under the lights Saturday night has all of the makings to be an interesting evening for Kyle
Busch. Coming into the race with the points lead at a track he‘s never won at, his every move will be
under the fan’s microscope, contact with any car will be scrutinized and for sure if he spins someone it
will be over the top.

Can the pilot of the no. 18 car dubbed “Rowdy” or “Wild Thing” really race anyone hard for position or
even a win this weekend? It is a Saturday night short track after all and what’s he supposed to do, give
one away if it comes down to a two-lap shootout with Dale Earnhardt Jr.? If you had a remake of the
2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 Darlington  race and the finish between Ricky Craven and his bro
Kurt, would Kyle even put himself in that position and rough someone up going for the checkers? It will
be interesting to see.

In his mind he has to be preparing for that sort of thing and playing out different scenarios to think what
he might do. One thing for certain is that Kyle is probably thinking to avoid Earnhardt at any cost
because to spin the star of the sport twice in two consecutive races would pretty much exempt him from
the need of a helmet because his head would be hard enough without one.

It will be interesting to see Kyle’s driving style throughout all stages of the race. There will be no
redemption or benefit to him winning in the court of public opinion and quite frankly it might even make
things worse for him if he does. It might end up being like that Tylenol commercial where all of the
drivers are talking about being happy with second.

The other thing that has to be going through his mind is that instead of being the aggressor, he may be
the one with a bull’s eye on his back. If the old saying of ‘drive your competitors the way that you want
them to drive you’ holds true, then Kyle is liable to look like a ping-pong ball out there on the track. No
matter who you are, if you dump Kyle Busch this Saturday night your popularity status will increase
tenfold. Will there be any takers this weekend for the title of ‘shrub-wacker’?

Kyle has talent and a bright future in the sport, but he needs to chalk this past week’s event up as a
learning experience in figuring out some basics rules. A lot of veterans look at his driving style and just
shake their heads because they know something has eventually got to give. Even if Kyle recovers from
the fiasco of wrecking Junior he will be on thin ice with the fans for quite some time.

I don’t think there are any fans out there that want Kyle to totally abandon his driving style because he is
fun to watch, but to simply show a little more respect on the track to his fellow competitors. Continuing to
make moves on the track that are possible, but improbable will earn you nothing but trouble. Kyle broke
off a double-handful of trouble last weekend and hopefully he learned a valuable lesson from it all.

Mr. Busch, eat a big slice of humble pie and remember these song lyrics: You don’t tug on Superman’s
cape, you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger and you don’t mess
around with Junior.

I am just waiting for Kyle to dump Tony
Stewart one time so we can see the geek
get put in his place.

I don't mind admitting that I will be
watching the race especially to see what
unfolds. I don't like Kyle, but the plot
makes it interesting.

I would like to see two things happen...

1. Mark Martin wins race.

2. Kyle Busch in wall, he leaves track, and
Steven Wallace gets into his car to finish
race.

I think Kyle Busch might have watched
Dale Earnhard growing up.Because he
sure aint racing to be "first loser".
